Babies this age don’t really need much: Eat, sleep, clean diaper, cuddle, tummy time, repeat.
However, if you’re looking for something to give to the littlest ones in your family, here are some presents that will make baby (and mom) smile.

- Crinkle Toy These toys make crinkly noises, come in bright colors and often have very soft fabrics. The sounds and colors are perfect to catch baby’s attention when very small. The soft fabrics will help with grasping when a little bigger.
- Rattle A fun rattle can make the difference for tired parents trying to make it to nap time. My son loved this barbell one. He could see the inside, it made noise and was easy to hold.
- Plain white onesies, fabric paint, paintbrushes and stencils While everyone is gathered together at Christmas, turn it into an outfit painting party for baby! Each person picks a onesie, some paint, a brush and creates a design with letters or image stencils (You don’t necessarily have to use Christmas stencils.) At the end, baby has some cute and custom made outfits.
- High Chair Toy Your newborn will be in a high chair before you know it. High chair toys have strong suction cups that stick to the tray, to keep baby occupied while you get dinner ready. I really like this one that you can tie toys to, preventing them from getting thrown on the floor.
- Baby’s 1st Christmas Ornament While it won’t mean anything to baby now, picking out an ornament to mark his or her first Christmas will become more and more meaningful over time. You can get ones with the year and your baby’s picture that are adorable.
- Activity Gym and Play Mat I got one of these for my son when he was about three months old. He loved to lay on his tummy and back on the mat. He would look at the mobile and kick his feet in the air. Once he could sit up, he could bat at the toys. At that point, it converted to a small ball pit. He LOVED kicking the balls and throwing them. He played with this gym/mat until he was almost three and outgrew it. Look for ones that will grow with your child. It’s worth the money.
- Sleep/Slumber Toy Look for ones that play soft lullabies, classical music, nature sounds or even a heartbeat sound. Some designs will also project soft light on to the ceiling. Anything to aid sleep will be well received by baby and mommy.
- Crib Mirror My son would look at himself and babble all the time in his mirror. It didn’t stay exclusively in his crib. It also worked on the changing table, in the car, at restaurants – anywhere he needed to be entertained for a few minutes. Look for ones specifically for the crib as they soft edges.
- Wrapping Paper Seriously. You can wrap up an item that baby has seen many times before, and it will still be exciting and new as he hears the paper ripping or tears the paper himself. Save yourself some money and stress 🙂
- Sophie the Giraffe {CCMB Owner, Elisabeth’s TOP PICK!} I love, love, love Sophie and both of my boys did too! She is one of my go-to gifts for baby at every holiday, baby shower, or birthday!
