Thankful for the basics
Thankful for the Basics

I am thankful for the roof over my head.

I am thankful for the food I have to eat.

I am thankful for the clothes I have to wear.

I am thankful for clean, running water and indoor plumbing.

I am thankful for my health.

I am thankful for my family and friends.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m also thankful for the internet, my phone and wine. (Lots of wine.) But at this time of year, when Thanksgiving can begin to feel complicated due to money issues, family pressures, politics, loneliness and a whole lot of other things, I choose to focus on the many blessings I have, when so many people have far less.

If you are feeling under stress this holiday – stop – breathe and remember all the good things in your life. I’ll bet there are more than you think. We can always be thankful for the basics of life.

Wishing you peace, love, thankfulness and wine this Thanksgiving. Gobble, gobble!
