Thanksgiving… my favorite season of the year! I love all of the major holidays but for some reason, Thanksgiving just resonates with me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that we didn’t have much growing up but somehow every Thanksgiving, we were able to celebrate like everyone else. My family would finally get together and everything felt complete.
Every year has had a different meaning for me growing up – even into my adult life –
but this year, the thing I’m most grateful for,
is memories.
Within this past year, our family has suffered three huge losses: my lovely grandmother, my sweet mother-in-law and our niece who was taken from us all too soon. There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t think about them. It’s going to be an emotional time but the memories we have will get us through.
I’ll always cherish the memory that each of them had their very own special time with our daughter and that although she most likely won’t remember them, we were able to capture photos and learn their sayings and their certain songs for her. We have my grandmother’s special prayers that she would say for Thanksgiving and my mother-in-laws special recipes that we will eventually pass on to our daughters.
