Make Your Own Halloween Charcuterie Board

I recently had a very talented friend of mine walk me through my first Charcuterie Board. And since I have become obsessed! I am constantly thinking about what I could pair or add next.

Every year our family does a spooky-themed night Halloween Dinner. My kids look forward to it for months. Here’s last year’s post if you need a little more inspiration.

This year, due to my recent obsession, I decided to throw a little charcuterie spin on our traditional evening. And it was a HUGE hit. My kids love Charcuterie Boards because they get to pick and choose things that they like! I love them because they are pretty, but also because I can introduce new tastes to my kiddos in a super fun way!

I decided to base this Charcuterie board on Halloween inspired colors. I tried to do lots of oranges, blacks/dark colors, and whites/creams. I thought this would be a fun color palate. Also because I was entertaining my kids, I mostly stuck with mild flavors for cheese and meats. I mixed in sweets with the savory and had a total blast putting it together.

I find assembling the charcuterie board extremely relaxing. I like to work from the center out, but everyone has their own process. I like to add dimension by adding containers of various heights and sizes. My daughter suggested the hummus in the center and it was perfect, I’m hooked on adding dips to my boards now.

A Few more tips For your own Charcuterie Board:

I like to have small “fillers” that can fill in a few empty spaces here and there. When I am making a board for adults I liked to use nuts. They can be scattered here and there and look very ascetically pleasing. Not to mention they are super delicious.

Chocolate is also a great filler. I love breaking dark chocolate squares in uneven sizes to stick around the edges.

For this board, I added edible googly eyes which the kids loved! And of course Spooky spiders for a Halloween element!

And lastly, HAVE FUN! There’s no right or wrong way to assemble your own board!
