T1D : A Back to School Poem
‘Twas the night before school and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for mom…
The uniform was laid out on the couch with care, along with a headband to help tame the hair.
The insulin pump is charging and “low-snack” boxes packed, the Dexcom is calibrating and all lunch carbs will be tracked.
On glucagon, on Ketone strips, on alcohol pads and back-up test kit. Here’s hoping the new school nurse doesn’t freak out about all the $h!t… (but seriously)
It’s a tiring disease – but we put up a good fight. Happy new school year to all, and to all a good night!
