Do you believe in magic??

I never did….until I became a mother.

Now, I’m not talking about “cool” magic, like, Harry Potter-type magic…this is a special “magic” that only the mom of the house seems to have…well, at least in this house, only the mom has it. This particular “magic” is the capability of performing  simple (so I think), mundane tasks that must be done around the house….some of them, several times a week and/or day. Here are just a few of these household chores of which I am talking about:

Putting the dishes in the dishwasher

 After a meal, their dishes (usually) make it to the vicinity of the sink area. However, something happens, and their arms stop working, which makes it impossible to do that extra step of actually putting the dishes into the dishwasher. It’s baffling, really….must be some sort of force field that affects everyone BUT me.

Taking out the trash

I will watch them stick their hands in the nasty trash can just to push down the garbage a quarter of an inch just to avoid taking it outside. I believe I have even seen one of them (who shall remain nameless, but is probably my husband) stick his foot in there and shove the rubble down….all just to avoid taking it out. And putting in a NEW bag if heaven forbid the trashcan is empty…forget it. 

Hanging the towel up after showering

I find them on the floor, on the bed, in the closet, even UNDER the bed…but never, EVER on the rack in the bathroom…that is literally called a TOWEL RACK.

And my all time favorite magical mom trick….

Replacing the toilet paper rolls

I get it….that roller-thingy has to be removed from the holder..and the put back on. It’s complicated. I understand. You have been working a smartphone since you were a toddler, but whatever. It’s a struggle. (insert major eye-roll here)

So…I’m dying to know…what is your mom “magic?” What can you do around the house that no one else can??? Maybe we can have a secret magic mom’s club where we drink wine and….well….just drink wine.
