My kids and I just watched Mary Poppins Returns for the first time and I can’t wait to give you our review!

{I will do my best in this review not to spoil anything for anyone that has not yet seen the film.}

This review may be obsolete for the many who have already seen Marry Poppins Returns. I was one of the few that didn’t rush to the theater one because well kids. And two because the original holds such a special place in my heart that I couldn’t imagine loving a reboot/ 54-year-old sequel.   

I am pleased to say that I was WRONG!

Mary Poppins Returns has become a household favorite, with me and my two kids!

In order to not have any major spoilers I won’t recount the whole story line, but I will say this if you are not a fan of musical theater this will not be the movie for you! There is still lots of singing!

The singing and dancing is probably some of our favorite parts!

One of the issues I thought I would have is the changing of Mary Poppins but Emily Blunt is an AMAZING Mary Poppins. There are a few references to the original that are in my opinion very well placed and added to the story and didn’t feel like they were put there simply to try and connect the two. The costumes and colors are beautiful…can I please have this dress for myself?

There is an underlying story of loss, and love and even a little romance/match making, but it is told in a way that even the kids can understand the message. And Dick Van Dyke coming in at the end is just the BEST and brought tears to my eyes! {Side Note can you believe he is 93!!}

I am going to give Mary Poppins Returns 5 out of 5 flying nannies. This is a movie that for now I do not mind having on repeat!!!!
