Family Game Night: Games We love Right Now!

This last year our family fell in love with game night. We’ve always enjoyed games, but we always felt we were too “busy” to play them often. With so much more time at home we have become a family who officially loves game night, and intentionally plan on at least one night a week for “family game night“.

It is hard to find games that keep everyone entertained. And pretty quickly we outgrew/ grew tired of the classics like Sorry, Candy Land, and Uno. (We still love these, but we needed to shake things up!) So I thought I would share a list of our current favorite games for Family Game Night!

Unicorn Don’t Step In It

Ok. This game is HILARIOUS. And if you have littles I guarantee it will make you all laugh out loud. Basically you create little piles of unicorn poop out of playdough and place them on the pathway. And while you are blindfolded you try to make it from one end to the other with out stepping in the poop. I will warn you, my kids go bananas when we play this game but it’s a definite crowd pleaser. (My 2 year old and 7 year old both love this one)

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

This is a super fun game of speed. With a little twist. You have to say the words in order, while laying down cards in random order. So you may be laying down a pizza, but saying goat. It can be kinda tricky. There are also a few special playing cards worked in. This is more fun with 3 or more people. But can be played with just 2. It’s a little too tricky for our 2 year old, but our 7 year old loves it.

Taco Take Over

This game is SO much fun! It’s a game of speed to get your taco order made in time! On the count of uno-dos-tres everyone begins to fill their taco shells and the winner shouts Ole! First! There are a few trick cards like an antacid card where a player of your choice has to dump out their tacos, or the cockroach card where you have to empty your own taco shells. Everyone in my clan enjoys this one!

Uno Flip

If you need to spice up your Uno game try this one on for size! With double sided cards the rules get a little crazy. There’s a light side with mellow rules, and a “dark” side with crazy rules. We love it! Both my kids try to play this one, and even though it’s a little above my 2 year olds level my 7 year old rocks at it.

Cover Your Assets

My husband and I have loved this game for years! But we recently decided to teach our 7 year old how to play it and she caught on SO fast, and now it’s even more fun! This game is all about collecting the most assets and then covering them up so no one can steal them. You even battle and try to steal assets from the other players. It can be ruthless but super fun.

Uno Moo

We don’t like our little guy to feel left out so we usually start with a game geared more towards him and this is a great one for that! It’s quick, the rules are super simple and it’s really cute! Once we play a few rounds he’s usually done, and he just brings his toys out by us for the rest of game night.

Apples To Apples (Junior)

This is a great game to help increase vocabulary and see your kids’ true sense of humor come out! We love seeing what words our 7 year old chooses it’s super fun. We love the junior version for game night because it takes out many of the people and events that our kids wouldn’t know from the original version making it perfect for game night!

Trivial Pursuit (Family Edition)

Ok this family edition is great because there’s cards for adults and cards for kids so no matter who is playing you can all have fun! We don’t own this one but enjoy playing with some close friends of ours for game night!

Just One

This game is great for a group. A mystery word is chosen and players will use the little white boards to write down one “descriptive word” . The player who is “it” tries to guess what the mystery word is. We have a lot of fun when we play this one with friends as well! Perfect for friend or family game night.

Spot It

My kids both get really involved in this one. It’s perfect for when game night needs to be a little quicker. It helps work on matching and speed two things kids are great at! And Spot it! has a lot of really fun versions making it a game night winner!
