The importance of Self Care: Taking time to recharge!

0

We are now in the busy season these last two month of the year.  There are many times, as moms, we get into a daily routine of the everyday tasks that need to be taken care of. We run from one school to another picking up one child and dropping off another. We run to afterschool activities and still have to maintain a household. We care for our children and many times put ourselves last on the list.

As mothers our role as a caretaker is very important to us and we fail to see the importance of taking the time for ourselves.

I know when I was a young mom I often felt the guilt of leaving my daughter with a family member to go out to eat with a friend. I believe often times we put the pressure on ourselves and compare our lives to other moms.

We often feel that if that mom can do it all, why can’t I?

As a mom I have learned along the way it is just as equally important to take the time to recharge and do something for yourself.  Taking time for yourself does look different for everyone.

It may consist of going to lunch with a friend, going for a walk, getting a manicure or even going shopping. We all have to decide for ourselves what it takes to recharge. I personally love getting together with my best friend and just laughing and enjoy her company! We need to be reminded if we do not take the time for ourselves we will not be good for our children or others around us.

I encourage you to find what recharges you, embrace it and take the time to do it.

We are meant to enjoy life, to find what makes us smile and enjoy the journey we call life.
