When my son was 15 months old, I knew I needed help. I was staying home with him, but I was tired and burnt out. I was terrified and sad at the thought of leaving him with someone else, but I also knew it would be best for him and for me. So with a little encouragement from a friend, I started my search for local childcare, preschool, and MDO programs.
I was very surprised to learn that programs fill up quick and wait lists are often the norm. However, I finally found a program accepting new babies and scheduled a tour. I blinked back tears as I spoke with the Director. After enrolling my son, I cried in my car. And as you might imagine, the first week, I along with the other new moms in that class ran in and out of the building at drop off with red, teary, and averted eyes.
The decision to enroll my son in school was hard. But it has been amazing for both him and me. He is learning so much and impressing my husband and me regularly. Our son is having fun with new friends. He has loving and nurturing teachers. And most importantly, I know he is safe and well cared for when I am away.
The decision to enroll your child in a childcare, preschool or MDO program can be tough. But selecting the right program for my child has been one of the best decisions I’ve made as a parent. That is why we’ve put together this guide to local childcare, preschool, and MDO programs. We are hopeful it helps you and your family find a local program you will love!
St. Pius X Catholic School
St. Pius X Catholic School is a Blue Ribbon School that provides students with an award winning education integrated with faith formation. Their preschool and elementary school programs instill values of service and community stewardship in students.
Their Early Childhood Program consists of grades K-3, K-4 and K-5, with a certified full time teacher and full time instructional aide. Students are taught in a language-rich environment that prepares them for the elementary program while recognizing their developmental needs.
At the elementary level, grades 1-6 are traditional in nature and emphasize strong reading, math, science and social studies programs. Enriched reading and math classes reduce class sizes to approximately 12 to 1 for both the enriched and homeroom classes. St. Pius X also offers Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math programs, S.T.R.E.A.M. lessons, library classes, daily physical education classes and weekly music, Spanish, art and computer classes. Smart Boards, desk top computers and iPads are in all classrooms to enhance learning.

Not sure I saw it on the list 🙂
These are great for moms with younger kids but alot of these don’t handle older kids or after school care. A list focusing on that would be a great follow up to this.
