After being stuck inside due to chilly South Texas weather and some crazy, windy days, many of us welcomed the start of the spring season. School-aged children were counting down to spring break. As for my own children, they are already begging to know what fun things we have planned for this summer. They want to be OUTSIDE. I get it. I am ready for some outside spring activities, too. Even I dream of abandoning the overflowing laundry and trading it in for the gentle breeze and the soft smell of spring.
In preparation for this fresh season, I have made a bucket list that outlines some of our favorite spring activities. All of these activities can be done right here in our beautiful Corpus Christi area too!
- Go on a Nature Walk If you haven’t been before, try Suter Wildlife Refuge on Enis Joslin at Nile. They have a playground, a one-mile nature trail, and a boardwalk that leads to Oso Bay. Our kids love the scenery there.
- Blow Bubbles…Â and pop them!
- Have Some Sidewalk Chalk Fun
- Plant Flowers
- Attend a Hooks Baseball Game! We like to check the schedule in advance for promotional nights like “Dollar Hot dogs” or “Kids Day.”)

Love this list!!!
So many people say there is nothing to do here, but that couldn’t be further from the truth!
People always say that and I just don’t get it! I’m forever finding TOO many fun things to do!
Yes! These are just a few of our favorites, but I really could add so much more to this list!
Oh yeah! I run CC Fun for Kids and sometimes there are at least 5 or 6 things going on the same day!
Very true, Ruth! Thanks for your support!
Lots of wonderful ideas! Thanks for sharing!
This is an awesome list. I hear so many complaints about how Corpus has nothing to do, when in fact there are a ton of things to do, and a lot of them are usually free or for a small admission fee. I will be trying some of these list items with my kiddos.
Absolutely!..Also coming up is NAS Kingsville’s “Wings Over South Texas Airshow” on April 9th-10th. This is another family favorite. http://wingsoversouthtexas.com/
So many great ideas! Thank you for making my to do list for me 🙂
