No matter what sport you’re into, there’s a team for you to cheer on in the Coastal Bend! Did you know that the Coastal Bend hosts four professional sports teams, and 15 collegiate teams, just minutes from our doorsteps?

Corpus Christi IceRays (Hockey)
The Corpus Christi IceRays are a tier II junior ice hockey team, and were established as a professional franchise in July 1997, marking the first ice hockey franchise in Corpus Christi. They have had numerous changes in ownership, leagues, logos, and colors over the years, but have always stayed in the Coastal Bend.

Corpus Christi Tritons (Arena Football)
The Corpus Christi Tritons are a new indoor arena football team. They are members of the National Arena League, and were announced on July 3, 2023.
During their inaugural season, they finished second in the American Indoor Football league with 4 wins and 1 loss.
- Season: Mid March – Early June
- Home field in the American Bank Center
- Mascot: King Triton
- Community Involvement: After each home game, fans are allowed to go onto the field to meet the players and get signatures. During the Fall of 2024, the Tritons are also hosting their first annual flag football tournament, open to both youth and adult leagues.

Corpus Christi Hooks (Baseball)
The Corpus Christi Hooks are a minor league baseball team, and the Double A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The team moved to Corpus Christi in 2004, and was named “The Hooks” after a “name the team” contest that was won by Corpus Christi resident, Michael Braly.
As well as their normal blue and white jerseys, The Hooks put on their Whatabuger orange and white uniforms every Wednesday, and play as the Corpus Christi Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits.

- Home field: Whataburger Stadium
- Mascots: Rusty the Fish Hook and Sammy the Seagull
- Community involvement: The Hooks will often do summer and winter baseball camps for young players led by players and coaches from the collegiate and professional ranks.

Corpus Christi FC (Soccer)
Corpus Christi FC (The Sharks) was registered in 2017 to bring a pre-professional soccer franchise to Corpus Christi. Starting competitive play in 2018, the club quickly established itself as one of the premier USL League Two teams across the United States. The club plays an exciting brand of soccer featuring elite local, national, and international players.
- Season: Mid May – Early July
- Home field:Currently Corpus Christi FC plays at Cabaniss Field, but they are in the process of constructing a new state of the art 5,000 seat soccer stadium that will be built between Old Brownsville Road and SPID.
- Mascots:
- Community involvement: In 2019, Corpus Christi FC established the Corpus Christi FC Academy to develop youth talent in the Coastal Bend.

Islander Athletics
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) has over 15 men’s and women’s sports that are played throughout the year. The public is always invited to show their support at games, and with tickets being very affordable, games make a perfect family outing.
TAMU-CC also does camps for younger athletes in basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and soccer throughout the year.
