The “Late-Over”, an alternative to the Sleep-Over

To sleep over or to not sleep over?

Next Time Try a Late-Over Instead!

My daughter and I recently heard a  new phrase “The Late-Over” and I am excited to introduce you to the idea as well!

Sleep Overs make me nostalgic

It makes me nostalgic thinking about sleep overs. Some of my best childhood memories were made with my friends at sleepovers. My friend Amy’s mom still makes the best orange julius’ in my opinion, and I had the most delicious french toast at Whitney’s house. Courtney’s mom always had warm chocolate chip cookies when we would come over and the memory of them still makes me salivate.

Recently my six year old has been begging for a sleep over. She loves the idea of them. Playing games, having fun with a group of besties, watching movies, and yummy food. And yet she’s still very young, AND in today’s world I am not sure I will ever feel OK about sleepovers.

This entire school year however she has been very adorable in her begging and I finally caved with one stipulation. We agreed to have a “late-over” instead of a sleep over.

Introducing the “Late Over”

So what is a Late-Over? It’s everything you would do at a sleepover. All those fun and magical memories, pillow fights, dress up, games, movies, and pizza. Minus the sleeping at someone else’s house.

This weekend we had our first “Late-Over” and the girls had SO much fun. They came over after school and we went to the park. We had yummy fun food, pizza and games. And we ended the night with a movie and popcorn. It was the perfect combination. And then because they are Six, 8:30 was the perfect time to end our fun. They were tired!
