I don’t mind taking my toddler to the grocery store. It gets us out of the house, and going to H-E-B is a fun chance to play games and learn together.
But this week I missed grocery shopping in favor of a rare workout. Then it was nap time. Then it was well into the afternoon. The next day I worked and ran other errands. So soon, we were pretty low on food and household essentials.
I’m often slow to try new things. I suppose I had heard of H-E-B Curbside, but I hadn’t given it much thought. Lucky, I was asked to give it a try this week. The opportunity couldn’t have been better timed!
So last night, after a very long day, my son fell asleep in my arms. And while I held him, I tried out Curbside and caught up on the grocery shopping I hadn’t done.
Curbside was a fast, easy, and convenient time saver.
I used my existing grocery list to add items to an online cart. And since I hadn’t prepared a very good list, I envisioned walking my usual route through H-E-B to help recall weekly staples like bananas, berries, and lunch meat.
Curbside helped me stay within budget and made reviewing prices easy!
Instead of grabbing things quickly and hurrying along like I do in the store, I monitored my spending as I shopped. Before purchasing my order, I reviewed a list of items I planned to buy, making sure I bought what our family actually needed, not what was good enough because it was right in front of me like I do in the store. I even read product details to make certain I got the right item.
When I was checking out, I was offered tons of convenient time slot options for grocery pickup.
I could swing by as early as the next morning or plan for several days out.
It was so easy!
But before placing my order, I went to grab my credit card and told my husband about my experience. He excitedly offered to do all the grocery shopping for our family moving forward! I can definitely see how convenient it would be to schedule and pick up groceries at times when we’re both around to help unload.
When I went back to my phone to complete my purchase, I noted that my cart reflected a price drop!
Real-time price updates were helping me save more on my groceries!
The next day, I received a text when it was time to pick up my order. I pulled in a numbered slot on Aisle C, and was quickly greeted by Amanda, who confirmed my order number.
I opened the trunk and edited this post a few moments while my son enjoyed Blaze and the Monster Machines. But, before I knew it, Jazmin was loading my car with my groceries! I signed a receipt and was on my way!
When I got home, my son was melting down. I was pleased to see that cold items were still cold and the produce was fresh! I was also thrilled that items I purchased were correctly bagged by temperature, making it easy to toss aside coffee and kitty litter but refrigerate milk and freeze spinach so I could tend to my son quickly.
My one regret? I didn’t think to pick up a rotisserie chicken. I could have popped that on the table with a couple sides and fed everyone in a pinch!
But it was practically that easy. I threw the chicken and sweet potato fries I bought in the oven. The broccoli went in the microwave. Dinner was done. And it was delicious!
