I sat down in front of my laptop today in an attempt to write a couple of blog posts….
Well I ended up checking my email, reading up on my shows, and googling celebrity gossip. I got up a few times to get a drink and then snacks. I realized I have writer’s block. I’m still stuck in Summer mode. Normally I can focus, but right now not so much.
So, I googled writer’s block and got a few tips, while adding some of my own. Maybe we are not all writers, but I am sure there are days you need to focus, and you just feel like you can not get anything done.
Writer’s Block can happen to all of us, here are some tips to help:
- Create a Schedule –
Schedule a time that is suitable for you to get writing/work done. Some people like to write early in the morning when their ideas are fresh in their minds. If you are like me and you are a night owl then maybe you prefer to write at night. It might be easier to know that you will get writing done instead of wondering if you will have time at all.
- Write in a journal-
I have been journal writing since I was a young girl. It can be therapeutic getting all your feelings out. Either a regular journal, or even a dream journal. You would be surprised what ideas you can come up with when you are just writing your thoughts out.
- Exercise-
Sometimes getting the blood flowing can get your creative mind going. Go for a walk or a swim, whatever you enjoy.
- Listen to music/podcast–
I have mentioned before how I love music. Sometimes I put on a random song or even a podcast and the music will tell me a story and I get inspired. There are also podcasts on writing, they give you on advice on different topics.
- Find a Community–
There are so many writing groups on Facebook that you can join. There are numerous writers and bloggers on Instagram and Twitter. They can give you feedback all you have to do is ask. You are able to bounce ideas off of each other.
How do you handle writer’s block? Do you have any tips I can add to my list?
