Father’s Day holds a special place in my heart because I sometimes feel like dads don’t get enough recognition as moms do. I mean, think about it. Moms get praised for taking care of the home, raising and disciplining kids, and for some, holding down a full-time job outside of the home. I hear a lot of negative things about dads, and one of our blog contributors, Mary, wrote an excellent post about it that you can find here. So today, I would like to dedicate this post to the two men in my life who have shown me what being a dad is.
This handsome man on the left is my daddy. His name is Roger. For as long as I can remember, he has sacrificially loved my siblings, my mom, and me by providing, caring, and supporting us throughout our lives. For me specifically, I remember how he (and my mom) coached my Little League t-ball team and how, even after working a full days work, still managed to make it to a game to see us perform or play. I remember him walking me down the aisle on one of the most important days of my life and how we danced to Butterfly Kisses at the reception hall. My heart burst open with more love for my father when my children (his grandchildren) came into the world and I get to witness firsthand his love for them, just as he loved us when we were little. Thank you, dad, for being a constant love and support to me!

This year, I am blessed to be able to share Father’s Day and my 12 year wedding anniversary with the love of my life, my husband Oscar. He has been a constant stream of encouragement to me as I wander through this journey called motherhood, but he has shown me what the love of Christ looks like… sacrificial, constant, unending, and grace extending when I fall short. Besides my love for Christ, this man holds my heart, and I fall head over heels for him over and over again as I watch him love our children and provide for our family. So thank you, babe, for all you do for us, and for continuing to love me and our children. We appreciate you so much!!
