It doesn’t have to be the last time. A life full of firsts.

Sometimes I get a little bogged down with life and want to live life in the moment. They say, “you never know when each day will be your last.” I definitely understand the sentiment and I know it well. I found myself wondering what could happen if I changed my perspective? I don’t want to see it as the last of anything. Some people may see it as the last time, “it’s the last time she’ll be this age.” I want to believe it’s just the beginning. It’s just the beginning of so many firsts.

My daughter just turned 8 years old recently and I find myself thinking about all the moments she has celebrated and all the ones yet to come. From the first moment I felt her kick inside my belly to the first time she called me her best friend. I love being able to know I saw her smile for the first time and hear her first giggle.

Firsts

Her first day of kindergarten, and the day she lost her first tooth. Excitement over waiting for Santa. So many beginnings she has had in her short life, and I look forward to all the ones in her future. One day she will have her first boyfriend and graduate high school. She will have her first job and it will all be amazing.

Firsts

Seeing my little girl take her trip around the sun each year. Watching her grow into a young lady. The world before her full of possibilities.

It is true that you never know when it is the last time for anything in life, but I also like to think its also the first time too.

To my daughter who has given me a world of many “firsts.” I love you.
