It’s the first of the year and many people are thinking of goals they have for 2019.
I start the year off with a vision board: A vision board is simply a poster or collage with pictures and images of your dreams.
You may ask yourself where do I start?
I believe the first key is to allow yourself the ability to dream. And no dream is too small or even too big. In fact, if your dream scares you – it’s a good thing! And no dream is right or wrong — it is all about what you personally want to accomplish in your life.
It can include goals and dreams you have personally, within your business or even for your family. I personally have a goal to take my daughter and granddaughter to Disney World this year. I also have a goal of buying a new stainless steel stove.
I encourage you to put your vision board in a place where you see it daily. I am a firm believer in what you think about you bring about. It is a daily reminder of what you are working towards.
A vision board can be a family project and a time to get your spouse and your kids on the same page. As a family you can work on your dreams for your family. It’s a time to listen one another and work on goals together.
A great technique is using the word S.M.A.R.T. ::
The letter S stands for setting a SPECIFIC goal. Write specifically what you want to do or accomplish. This is very important. It is a roadmap to where you want to end up.
The letter M stands for MEASURABLE. Determine if your goal can be accomplished by the deadline. Is your goal date realistic?
The letter A stands for ACTION ORIENTED. Determine the action steps that will lead to you accomplishing your goals.
The letter R stands for REALISTIC. You need to determine if your goals can be reached and if they are attainable.
The letter T stands for TIMELINE. Set a deadline for when you want to accomplish that particular goal.
