Christmas is our family’s favorite holiday! Both, my husband and I have great memories of it growing up. Now that we have our own family we have started some Christmas traditions of our own. They are not super original or complicated but we have fun with them!
We do a lot of things to celebrate. Usually on the last day of November we sit down with a calendar and plan a Christmas activity for every day as a countdown to the 25th. They range from a trip to cut our tree to Christmas movies and hot cocoa. It’s a lot of fun to come up with festive activities. We look forward to when the boys can give more input and get more excited with us. Some of these activities are part of our yearly traditions. I would like to share my top two family Christmas traditions!
My very favorite is making an ornament for the tree!
So far, I’ve chosen the theme and we all make the same ornament with our personal touch. As the boys grow older I am hoping that they will decide what ornament they want to make. What I love the most about this tradition is how every year there is less need for the generic Christmas balls and there is a LOT more of US represented on our tree! Every year it’s a blast to get all our ornaments out and reminisce. I look forward to the day when we can completely forego the generic ornaments. We will have a tree full of handmade memories!

My second favorite is new {matching} Christmas PJ’s for the whole family!
This one started by accident and, to be honest, it has proven challenging to keep up but I love it all the same. I wrap them and we open them on Christmas Eve, change into them, and spend the rest of the night and the next day in them. The first year the boys (we only had the oldest two then) happened to have Batman jammies; it was so much fun to go out and get my husband and I matching ones! The following year we picked red buffalo check, and it was adorable! I don’t know how long the boys are going to let me keep this one but I plan to carry it on for as long as they let me!
