Dear Mom,
I want to say I’m sorry. I love you. I respect you. And I have learned so much from you. I want to tell you a few things that I have not told you yet. So mom here goes:
My most precious memory is of you sitting at your vanity getting ready for the day.
I used to sit on your bed and watch you. Though, you may have thought I was just playing with my dolls, I was watching the way you brushed out your long, black, silky hair. The way you would apply your red lipstick, and last, the way you would spray your bottle of Coco Mademoiselle Chanel perfume. The scent would linger in every room you had walked into.
I felt as though I was watching a real-life movie star when you would get ready. I want you to know, that I would sneak into your room, sit at your vanity, and brush out my hair in the same way you did. I would stare at your makeup, open up your lipsticks and pretend to put them on. I would always put them back in the exact spot, so you would never know I was at your vanity.
Thank you for always giving me your empty perfume bottles.
Mom, did you know that I was able to get a pump or two of perfume out of the empty bottles? Maybe you did know. Maybe, you left the few pumps for me. If you did, thank you for that mom.
Mom, I’m sorry for ever doubting you. I want you to know, that just as I watched you at your vanity, I watched you raise all six of us kids. You taught me to be the mother I am today to my three children. Your strength, your grace, your patience, your honesty, and your kindness are the things I am amazed by and the things I find the most valuable in life.
Did you know mom, that sometimes, I really struggle with myself as a mother?
You gave us everything and I am trying to do the same. I can’t remember you ever struggling in your parenting, but now I know you just never let us know how you struggled; you always overcame. I have learned from your parenting triumphs and mistakes. Mom, this is why I never compare myself to others. You taught me to only look at myself and what I can do to push myself towards greatness.
You gave us the best memories. I am a strong, smart, independent, hardworking, red lipstick wearing woman because of you. You instilled confidence in me from my youngest memories.
Actually, mom, you helped us all become the men and women we are today. You raised three boys and three girls, who are now parents. You have six grandchildren and you are still guiding us as we raise them. We are following in your footsteps.
We thank you, dear mom, for your words, actions, and unfailing love.

Love Always,
Your Daughter
This is such a sweet tribute for your mom! As I read it, I couldn’t help but think of all the precious and priceless memories I have ic my mom! I, too, attribute most of my mothering to my mom. Never does a day go by that I don’t wish to feel her loving touch. What I would give to be able to give her just one more hug!
Amy, you are such a sweet and beautiful woman and now I know why, your mom! Happy Mother’s Day to you both.
