Gifts for Mom….a little rant.

Moms, feel free to share with your loved ones!

I was scrolling through my phone just now and I came across an ad that read: “Mom’s all that”. It was from a major retailer and had a few pictures suggesting gifts for Mom on this coming Holiday and, to be honest, I was disappointed!

It’s not anything new, but it’s hard to believe that we still think that a set of pots and pans is a great gift for Mom! Now I get that stores and retailers are just in it for the money. They advertise whatever sells and that is my point: that is what has sold for years for Mom.

The list was full of appliances, kitchen utensils, home decor stuff, and a bunch of other things that are NOT really for Mom. They are for the house or for the kitchen or for cleaning!

Here is what I think: if the Mom in your life LOVES cooking by all means give her something that she’s been wanting to add to her cooking tool collection. If she LOVES baking get her that amazing new gadget she’s been wanting. If she LOVES to clean then get her that latest tech appliance that she will enjoy.

BUT give Mom a THOUGHTFUL gift. Something that, in true Marie Kondo fashion, will bring HER joy! Take the time to find out what will make her heart smile.

Even better DO something thoughtful for her or with her!

Let’s change the way we see the Moms in our life! We are not only moms we are also women with their own particular interests and hobbies that go beyond cooking and cleaning (for most).

Mamas, let’s allow our loved ones to spoil us and get to know us. They don’t have to spend a lot of money (I know we all worry about our budget). Something thoughtful doesn’t have to be expensive they don’t even have to cost money!

What would be a gift that would bring you true joy?
