Coastal Bend
Originally from Ohio, this military wife has been plucked out of the Midwest and transplanted to Southern California, Japan, and now we’re living in the Coastal Bend for about three years. Here, in the land of Tex Mex, BBQ, and salty waves (and heat and mosquitoes!), my husband and I have become first-time homeowners and parents.
Mom
We moved to Texas when I was about 27 weeks pregnant. Except for my crazy emotions, it was the easiest pregnancy. I never had any morning sickness, I snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef, hiked in Hawaii, explored Japan, and moved internationally to Texas after making a two-week pit stop in the Midwest to visit with family. I brought our daughter into the world in Corpus Christi, and now as a super active, independent toddler, she keeps me on my toes! I’m currently pregnant with our second daughter, and my experience has been the complete opposite. Due to a large hematoma, it is now considered a high-risk pregnancy, and we pray I can give birth to a healthy baby at full term. For the next few months, I foresee myself staying at home and trying my best to create a magical childhood and wonderful family memories for my daughter…all while sitting down and taking it easy for my other girl.
Collective
Not long after moving to Corpus, I discovered Coastal Bend Mom Collective when searching for activities, places to see, and restaurants to add to our family bucket list. I immediately fell in love with everything I read, and I signed up for the e-newsletter. Later, after being a first-time, stay-at-home mom for a few months during COVID, I was craving a creative outlet and community. Lo and behold, I got an email from CBMC calling for new contributors! I quickly applied and was overjoyed to find I was accepted onto the team! I have learned so much from my fellow writers and feel heard and creatively fulfilled.
