Whatever your reasons may be for purging your home –  starting fresh in 2021, the kids had a growth spurt, the garage is about to burst, motivation from organizing pros you have binge-watched –  I hope you find the right donation site no matter the item. What’s more, this list also serves a dual purpose. Not only do I want you to get all the good vibes decluttering can bring, but I want you to feel great about recycling your goods with notable causes and charities right here in the Coastal Bend community. Take a look at what an impact donating and repurposing can do right here in our neighborhoods.

The Salvation Army Family Store Coastal Bend Donation Pick-Up Program
Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend Family Store The Family Store accepts and resales items for the whole family. You can donate directly to the store off SPID (drive to the back). For added convenience, you can schedule a time for them to pick up your items by calling 1-800-SA-TRUCK. Review the link provided for excluded items. From disaster relief, to COVID assistance, and most recently their Angel Tree program, their resale program gives back so much to our community. 

The Purple Door – Corpus Christi – Services Coastal Bend
The Purple Door The Purple Door assists those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in all 12 counties in our area. Your items will be used to help transition clients to a safe and healthy environment. Donations must be scheduled. You can do so by calling their hotline at 361-881-8888. 

Hi Again Resale- Corpus Christi – Services Coastal Bend
Donations made to Hi Again Resale Shop will support the Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend with numerous programs, services, and even employment while wearing baby at the store. All donation items can be taken directly to the store on Kostoryz. I look forward to their next fill-a-bag for $5 a day! 

Communities in Schools – Coastal Bend
Communities in Schools of the Coastal Bend has programs on numerous campuses from elementary to high school. They take many of the items your kiddo might have outgrown or have a surplus of like art or school supplies. Click here to find out How Can I Help – Communities in Schools

Ronald McDonald House – Coastal Bend Drop Off Sites
RMH Donation Box Locator Under COVID restrictions, the Ronald McDonald House is not taking items into the house currently. However, one of the best ways to support them is to donate your items to one of the yellow donations bins. Use the link provided to find a location near you. Items are resold at Family Thrift. Proceeds benefit the families at RMH. 

Habitat for Humanity ReStore – Corpus Christi
HFH Corpus Christi Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

Retail Therapy benefiting The Cattery – Corpus Christi
Retail Therapy Thrift Shop The Retail Therapy Thrift Shop is a program of The Cattery! All sales benefit The Cattery Cat Shelter and The Cattery Spay & Neuter Clinic! They are now taking donations of gently used furniture, housewares, clothing, etc. All donations are tax-deductible and sales will benefit the cats and dogs of our community!

The Cottage Shoppe benefiting patients of Driscoll Children’s Hospital – Corpus Christi
Cottage Shop The Cottage Shop is always in need of gently used or new items including current styles of clothing and shoes for the whole family, household items, collectibles, Complete games and toys, books, linens, accessories, small working appliances and electronics, and small wooden furniture. Please note, donation drop-off days are held on Monday and Thursday only. You can also find many “nearly new items,” donated by local businesses.

The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission  – Downtown Corpus Christi
Good Samaritan Homeless Shelter As the largest homeless shelter in the region, your items will be used in the mission or resold in the Good Sam General Store (across from the mission). Got big items? Furniture, appliances? Call to schedule a pick-up.   

The ARK Emergency Youth Shelter- Calallen
How to Help The Ark The Ark Assessment Center & Emergency Shelter for Youth is a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services licensed facility that houses children 0-17  who have experienced abuse or neglect.  An extensive list of items needed is available on their site. Every so often they hold a rummage sale (my favorite!!) I bought a couch and several learning mats for my friend’s home day-care center.

Rising Tide Ministries – Flour Bluff
Rising Tide Ministries is a resale shop that also offers job training, life skills training, and more. Donations are accepted during store hours. 

Castaways Thrift Shop – Rockport
CastawaysThriftShop Castaways Thrift Shop is run by volunteers from the following groups: First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, Peace Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and St. Peters Episcopal Church. The proceeds allow them to provide community grants for local non-profits.

In preparing this list of Donation Stations in the Coastal Bend, I spoke to several agency representatives to verify the information. However, with COVID and varying hours of operation, definitely call to verify. Trust me, they are all very friendly and appreciative. There are still several other agencies that do specialty items like baby items or pet items. But for now, I took into account that you might be going through every room in the house and needed a 1-stop drop off-site (even a pick-up option).
