The Most Wonderful Time of the Year {Brought to You by Hallmark}

Ladies, it is that time of year The Most Wonderful Time of the Year {Brought to You by Hallmark}again. The time when the weather gets cooler (albeit, still hot, but cooler than the blazing summer we get,) winter décor starts showing up all around us, we get to pull out the riding boots and the scarves (at least in the cooler parts of the day) and the big, jolly man in the red suit even starts to show his rosy cheeks around town, looking to get the perfect picture with your little elves. But regardless of all those wonderful things, it is still my most favorite time of year! The time I look forward to the most.

I know it may sound cliché saying it is my “favorite time of year,” since most people feel this way, but I can pretty much guarantee that one of  the reasons it is my favorite isn’t the same as most people’s.

I love this time of year because of HALLMARK. CHRISTMAS. MOVIES. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year {Brought to You by Hallmark}

If you have read my bio or any of my blogs, there is a good chance that you know about my love… ok, I will call it what it is… OBSESSION with the Hallmark Channel (and, now since I switched cable providers, the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel, too.) I flat out love watching these shows, especially ones staring my imaginary BFF, Candace Cameron Bure! (I know, I need to get a life, but I just love her! She is just so cute and likeable!)

My DVR is filled with the latest shows and even some older ones that I just don’t seem to tire of. To be completely honest, I watch these shows all year long, but there is just something about the Christmas ones that I can’t get enough of. Come to think of it, it could be the snow, since, here in South Texas, that is a rarity. Oh, and definitely the mountains, since that is where I long to live.

But, I think it is more than that. Watching these shows, regardless how corny, (forgive me, Candace, for saying that!) I am reminded of the things that matter most in life: love for family and friends.

Other than my faith, these are the most important things to me.  Almost any other show on TV is filled with violence, sexual content, foul language, etc. Hallmark is not. Every show I’ve seen (and trust me, that is A LOT!) is filled with love, warmth, kindness, and not to mention all those sweet Christmas traditions!  All the things that make this sometimes dark, scary world a better place. I can turn on one of these sappy Christmas shows and just escape from the world around me. I am instantly transported into a snowy, quaint New England or Pacific Northwest town and away from the crazy, hectic world around me.

I love how my kids can walk in at any moment (although I tend to watch my shows after the kids go to bed… uninterrupted Hallmark bliss! Yes, please!) and I do not have to turn the TV off or change the channel, like I would have to with any other trashy show on TV. It is just good, old jolly wholesome entertainment, that to be honest, my kids enjoy too when I let them they do watch with me.

Yes, there are tons of reasons I love the holidays, but Hallmark Christmas movies are like the big, bright red bow on the gift of this season.

And, like Christmas décor starts showing itself in stores the day after Halloween, Hallmark Christmas movies make an early appearance too, making me one happy momma! So, if you haven’t seen one yet, I would suggest you do! And lucky for me, I mean, us, Candace Cameron Bure stars in some this season, too! You can bet I’ll be setting my DVR to those! Ha! Happy Viewing!

Kathie
Kathie is blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to two silly, handsome and loud boys. The ringing in her ears proves just how loud they are! For almost 11 years, she has been happily married to her high school sweetheart, the biggest hunter and fisherman you'll ever meet. All is great until the season starts and Kathie becomes a hunting widow. Kathie's boys share her husband's obsession with the outdoors, which allows her some much needed time to herself. Kathie loves all things pink, sparkly and monogrammed. She dreams of her next vacation and desperately wants to move to the mountains one day, even though she probably wouldn't last 5 minutes there in the winter. When she has time, she obsessively watches Hallmark Channel movies, especially ones with Candace Cameron Bure.
