National Compliment Day : Let’s celebrate each other!

0

Now that the holidays are over, it doesn’t mean we have to stop celebrating!

Unlike Christmas and dealing with the stress and funds, this holiday is completely free and, sometimes, will give even greater return.

It’s National Compliment Day and, friends: compliments are free!

You can hand out compliments LIKE IT IS YOUR JOB and get rewarded with self love.

And honestly, I feel like it’s the ultimate cure for a bad day.

And, obviously, we love ALL holidays, but this one is one of our favorites!

National Compliment Day _ PinterestHere are some ways I am challenging you this National Compliment Day:

  • Compliment a complete stranger.

Yes we compliment our spouses, friends and family. But I encourage you to go the extra mile. While you’re out at the grocery store, compliment that mama who has her kids in the basket, let her know how well behaved they are. It might be for that second because hello kids, but it will make her feel like she has this mothering on lock.

  • Compliment your stressed out barista in the middle of happy hour. In the midst of the coffee chaos, he or she is doing a swell job. After all they are your life line to sanity.
  • Instead of an awkward pass as you’re making down the work hallway, strike a smile and say hello/good morning/good afternoon. Compliment their hair (maybe they tried something new)

Social Media Good Vibes:

  • I encourage you to start a compliment thread on your Facebook, IG, or Twitter and hashtag it #NationalComplimentDay. Each person that comments on the thread, has to compliment the person that commented before.
  • When you’re scrolling during the day, compliment that friends selfie. Often times, we just like or heart and move along. But what does it really take to just leave a little something extra. For all we know they just had a bad day and would love a little confidence boost. It cost you $0 to be kind.

And then, at the end of the day, just be a kind human.

We live in a world where we judge how someone else waters their grass, instead of just asking how they did it and how well they’re doing so.

So I leave you with this, don’t compliment ONLY on January 24th just because there’s a day for it, but do it often.

Like Oprah Winfrey would say “ You get a compliment, You get a compliment, You all get Compliments!”
