On August 18th, 1920, the 19th amendment was ratified, thus giving women the right to vote. It reads…“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”
This means in 2020, we celebrated 100 years of the women’s vote this year!
The passing and ratification of the 19th amendment launched a new era of women advocating for job opportunities, fairer wages, education, sex education, and birth control.
