Crafting is one of my all time favorite things to do. I especially like painting and repurposing items that are out dated or just need a little face lift.
Enter CHALK PAINT.
Guys, if you are a crafter and have never tried chalk paint, you are missing out!
What the heck is chalk paint and why is it so great? – you ask.
Well, chalk paint is regular paint that has chalk added to it. The addition of chalk allows the paint to grip onto surfaces that paint would normally not properly adhere to. It eliminates the need for sanding AND you can almost always get COMPLETE coverage in 1-2 coats!
It. Is. Amazing.

I have used it on at least 50+ projects over the last few years. A few years ago chalk paint used to be quite pricey and difficult to find but now it is much more widely available. You can purchase it at craft stores or even Walmart! I personally use the “Waverly Inspirations” brand (carried at Walmart in the craft section) all the time now and have found it to work just as well as the much pricier versions.
I have used it on many pieces of furniture, flower pots, and tons of different decorative items. With no sanding and only one or two coats needed, it makes projects so quick and fun! I tend to like items to have a bit of a weathered, shabby look so I almost always distress items a bit after I paint them. Then I seal it with Polyacrylic so it has a satin finish that can easily be dusted or wiped clean. The same brand “Waverly Inspirations” also makes a clear coat with a matte finish that I have used before. Additionally, some people use a wax to seal chalk paint but I have yet to go that route. Here are just of few of the pieces that I have used chalk paint to make-over:
