How to Build a Leprechaun Trap
Based on the Book “How to Catch a Leprechaun ” by Adam Wallace

I love to collect seasonal books for my family. I pull them out and display them separately from the rest of our bookshelf. This makes them a fun novelty, and we can enjoy them a little more! (Click here to read my Christmas Book tradition). This week I pulled out our Saint Patrick’s Day books, and we laughed and became inspired by the book, “How to Catch a Leprechaun”, and decided to make our own Leprechaun trap. (Find it on Amazon here).

This book introduces the crazy notion that leprechauns are actually sneaky and devious and they will try to trick and plant pranks. You can try to build a  trap and catch one, but chances are He will be too sneaky!

My kids loved the idea of building their own leprechaun trap, so we gathered whatever supplies we could find in our craft closet and got to work! I completely let them grab whatever they felt was necessary from the craft closet, they thought that was great fun!

Supplies needed:

    • A small box (ours was a small amazon box)
    • colored paper
    • glitter (of course)
    • Playdough (to trap your leprechaun)
    • rainbow cereal (just in case you all need a festive snack)
    • glue
    • tape
    • sequins
    • markers and crayons
    • TP roll

Let The Creativity Begin

I loved watching what they were thinking unfold. They determined we needed to “trick” the Leprechaun, with “fake gold” and then trap him inside with something sticky, in the end, we used play dough to trap our Leprechaun and disguised it with nearly an entire bottle of glitter! Doing the project outside was perfect! It eliminated the stress when you can just shake out your mess!
