About Cheryl of Bumble-B Photography, LLC
Cheryl was born and raised in the sandy, wind-blown desert of Eastern New Mexico. Her grandfather, a long-time German painter and landscape photographer, used film cameras before his passing in 2002. His work was exceptionally beautiful, and when he came to the States, it was the cactus and cacti flowers that he loved to photograph the most. Cheryl’s grandfather introduced her to photography, and she now has hundreds of his heirlooms: his 4×6 pictures he took over the course of decades. Photography is in Cheryl’s genes!
Cheryl loves to travel and especially loves visiting historic places. A native of Woodsboro, she met her (now) husband in 2008, while living near Chicago. The couple moved back to South Texas in 2011 and married in 2013. They have two children entering their teenage years, a step-son who is in his 20’s, and a 1 year old. Cheryl is also (step) grandma to two very active boys!
Cheryl has such a love for photography and, aside from portraits, also loves macro, botanical, and wildlife photography. Her venture started out in 2015 with the birth of her youngest child. She was searching for a newborn photographer in Refugio County. Several photographers were contacted but either used cell phones to take photos or weren’t fully equipped for newborn sessions. Cheryl viewed several photographers’ portfolios, and though their work in many areas was wonderful, she just didn’t see what she was seeking for her newborn.
Cheryl decided to be THAT photographer for the Coastal Bend.
Cheryl began learning photography basics and dove deeper into posing techniques, newborn safety, photography technique, and advanced editing programs. She bought her first DLSR camera in March of 2016.
Currently, Cheryl has hundreds of hours of education under her belt and is continuously learning to keep up with photography “trends,” which are super important to her clientele. She officially opened for business in April of 2016, and Bumble-B Photography, LLC was born!
Style
Cheryl’s style for photography is primarily vintage. She uses neutral colors but also has colors and props to match most preferences! As a creative artist, Cheryl loves having free reign to make something unique and custom for each family’s style! She has a few maternity dresses in stock, such as the tulle and the designer blue gown modeled above, for use by maternity mommas!
Cheryl provides all props, wraps, blankets, headbands, and hats. However, parents are encouraged to bring a couple of special items or an outfit for their newborn sessions if they prefer.
Recently, a client brought her wedding dress for the baby to be photographed with and a 100 year old baptismal dress that had been in the family for generations. Cheryl was thrilled to place the newborn in the outfit and take her photos in it!
In addition to having an eye for photography, Cheryl is very patient with newborns, infants, and children. She has experience with posing and knows what it takes to capture great images. Cheryl is the go-to photographer for safely performing “Pinterest” newborn poses that a lot of parents love so much! These poses require special knowledge of baby’s anatomy and technique, all-the-while keeping them asleep while maneuvering them into curly, sleepy positions, and compositing, such as the froggy pose, which requires one or more images put together in Photoshop to create. Cheryl’s specialty is keeping baby comfortable, safe, and of course, cute!
