My son is almost three, so this Christmas is one of the first he’ll really participate in and possibly remember. So, last night, my husband and I decided we’d take him out for a Christmas Lights drive.
Being the new parents we are, we weren’t sure where to find Corpus Christi’s best Christmas Lights. I remember Carmel Parkway had beautiful lights when I was growing up. The angel and Christmas tree on Driscoll Children’s Hospital have always been another favorite of mine.
But we weren’t sure how late everyone would stay up, and we had a few Southside recommendations from friends, so we thought we’d give them a try.
Here’s what we found:
Rancho Vista
There’s a street in Rancho Vista called Stampede that has a number of houses with lights. My son especially loved the inflatable characters.
There was a yard with Santa in an outhouse… which coordinated perfectly with potty training. Even Santa goes potty!
Candlelight Lane
It’s not Candycane Lane, but it’s close by, and for us, worth the drive.
Candycane Lane
Everyone knows it. Everyone loves it. Candycane lane even has an event schedule so you can get out and enjoy fun activities scheduled throughout the Christmas season.
The house that still had snow was popular with our son.
I didn’t get a photo, but the home with Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol was also a huge hit!
Willowick Dr.
Talk about amazing. The owners of a house on Willowick made the characters in their yard themselves. You’ll see almost everyone you could imagine. Disney characters, Peanuts, characters, Scooby Doo… they’re all here. You’ll even see 101… well, 102 dalmatians!
Unfortunately, my photo isn’t the best. When we arrived, it started to rain, so we loaded back into the car. But it was definitely a fun stop!
Mr. Bill’s Wonderland
Last year, we happened to stumble across Mr. Bill’s while we were driving around Christmas Eve. Located on Kennsington Court, this display was SO packed that we couldn’t park. Traffic was tight and cars were going every direction.
This year, we went early and were able to park and walk around to enjoy the fun unique displays, including a train, choir, and nativity scene.
But whether or not there’s a crowd, it’s magical and worth the visit.
This yard with the blue lights isn’t part of Mr. Bill’s Wonderland, but it is still breathtaking! And I love that they did it… if I lived next to Mr. Bill’s Wonderland, I’m not sure I’d even try!
Mazoch Family Christmas Display
Located on the island. Coastal themed Christmas show voted #2 in the nation for USA Today’s 10 best private holiday light display for 2014, and a contender on ABC’s Great Christmas Light Fight in 2016.
