The early days of having a baby were much tougher than I expected. So, as a new stay-at-home mom, I didn’t get out much. I was intimidated and insecure. I didn’t know how to use a stroller. I feared my new baby coming in contact with germs. I felt more comfortable being inadequate in the privacy of my own home than in public. Although I knew I would make mistakes along the way, I feared the well-meaning advice and judgement I would receive from other parents.
I spent my nights awake with my son, a terrible sleeper who also suffered from severe reflux. I was sleep deprived and starving, having drastically altered my eating habits in an attempt to ease his symptoms. I binged on the internet, seeking answers and connection. I obsessed for months over articles, recipes, apps, and parenting hacks.
I looked online for hope from other moms who had similar challenges with their new babies. I was desperate. I needed to know things would get better.
Eventually, I started following various City Moms Blog Network sister sites and soon discovered I was not alone. I learned that often, there is no right answer. I found that moms can do things different ways and still be good moms. I experienced the reassurance and affirmation I longed for in a positive online community.
However, as time passed, I reflected on how little I knew about being a mother in Corpus Christi. I thought about the type of mom I wanted to be and the great memories I wanted to make with my son, but I didn’t really know how. I needed local mom friends. And because I was also stir crazy, I needed a project. I needed Corpus Christi Moms Blog.
Corpus Christi Moms Blog, a member of the City Moms Blog network, is a community of local women who are passionate about connecting moms! Our site, born today, is written and run BY local moms, FOR local moms. Our team of local contributing writers is sure to give you someone you can relate to, connect with, and learn from.
At Corpus Christi Moms Blog, we know moms need to share local information and recommendations. We need to build friendships and have the convenience of doing so all from our mobile phone, tablet or computer. So, our goal is to help connect local moms in our community online, and soon, offline, through play dates, moms’ night outs and other local events. We’re here to encourage, inspire, and lift one another up in a positive environment. We’re here to remind you that even if motherhood feels lonely, you are not alone.
