We are in the midst of celebrating our beloved Coastal Bend! We might be under a stay-at-home order right now, but we are all dreaming and planning of the days that we can get back out and explore! Be sure to follow along this week (and next!) as the CCMB team shares some of our favorite things in the Coastal Bend – will your fave make the list?
There are countless things to do in the Coastal Bend, but here is The Mungia Family’s favorite.
Whataburger Field
Being at the ballpark has its way of just being our home away from home while still being home, if that makes sense. We are able to enjoy fresh air, all the snacks, and the love for the game. My 2-year old’s first word was ball and you have no idea how that made my husband feel. My husband eats, breathes and sleeps baseball, so you catch my drift as why baseball runs deep.
It makes the perfect date night, the perfect place for a birthday, or family visiting from out of town.
Recently my husband was able to partner with the field, which was a huge goal he had for himself. He had his very own spot that had his barbershop logo. He was also interviewed on field and did a “Shop Talk” with Sam Levitt, radio broadcaster, and Hooks pitcher, Brock Dykxhoorn. View the “Shop Talk” here .
To some it may just be a field, but to us it’s being around the community, rooting on our Corpus Christi Hooks. Its being around family for the Friday Pops in the Park, taking pictures with Sammy and Rusty or the 4th of July game. Its turning and high fiving the person sitting next to you when a ball is knocked out of the park. Because in that moment, its not about politics, religion, color, age, race, etc., its about having a good time, enjoying another day at Whataburger Field.
