The temperature is quickly rising outside, and we’re always in search of ways to beat this South Texas heat. What better way to cool off than enjoying a cold treat?! I will admit my family is a bit addicted to ice cream, sno cones, popsicles, or any frozen treat that we can get our hands on!
Here are some of our favorite places to enjoy a cold treat!
Hamlin Fountain & Gifts+Bakery
Located at 3801 South Staples at Weber Rd, Hamlin Fountain & Gifts boasts to be the last soda fountain in Corpus Christi. Their hand-dipped Blue Bell milkshakes are scrumptious, and so are their perfect banana splits! The kids will love sitting on the round stools while enjoying the soda fountain experience.
La Frutera
With two locations, one at 5865 Weber Road and the second at 2322 Airline Road, La Frutera is a popular place to stop by for a cold fruit cup or a delish smoothie! Take advantage of their drive-thru when you need a quick treat.
Scoopy’s Veranda
Whether you just finished dinner at Snoopy’s Pier (located right next to Scoopy’s), or you’re headed back from the Island or the beach, make sure you drop by Scoopy’s Veranda for a special cold treat! Have a scoop of ice cream, or try one of their signature desserts like the “Chocolate Barnacle.” You’ll find them at 13313 South Padre Island Drive.

Sweet Bee’s Frozen Yogurt
This local gem at 6917 S. Staples #101 is on the South Side of Corpus Christi. Though fairly new, this frozen yogurt shop has caught the attention of many frozen yogurt lovers. Choose from lots of fruit and sweet toppings to make your cup of frozen yogurt extra special.
Of course, there are other ice cream shops and favorite franchises that are not exclusive to the Corpus Christi area, but can’t be left off the list either.

Want some unique shaved ice options? You’ll find some crazy flavors on the Bahama Buck’s menu. Bring the family to 6125 Saratoga Blvd. for some cool treats and then play one of their board games inside or on their patio. Great family fun!

Ice cream cones, ice cream cakes, and other yummy treats can be found at 4701 S Padre Island Dr., Ste H! Just to forewarn you, kids may take a good ten minutes deciding on the perfect flavor! Too many options!
Dairy Queen
That’s what I like about Texas… I can’t leave this off because I often crave their signature blizzards, dipped cones, sundaes, and banana splits. DQ was always my go-to restaurant as a kid and teenager. You’ll find multiple locations throughout the Coastal Bend.
Haagen Dazs
My kids have a hard time passing by this ice cream shop after a shopping trip at La Palmera Mall! Grab a cone at 5488 SPID #1162 and sit outside by the fountain for more family fun.
