Best Places to get Coffee in Corpus (and surrounding areas!)

0

There are some things in my life that are just non-negotiable. At the top of that list :: Coffee.

I was intro’d to coffee as a wee young thing when my dad used to serve me a {very} small amount of coffee in the mornings. He would say, “Elisa-beth – here is your demitasse of coffee.”

{Demitasse cups are diminutive coffee cups for certain uses.}

And he would present me with a tiny cup, with a tiny bit of coffee, a splash of milk and sugar, and a whole lot of love.

And I felt very, VERY fancy.

Several years later, when I was in my very early teens, we took our first trip to Seattle and my love affair with lattes was solidified by Starbucks. This relationship brings me joy, it brings me comfort. It can warm me up on a cold day, it can calm me when I feel anxious, add in the right buttery flavor and it’s like it is wrapping it’s arms around me and filling me with its delicious goodness. And it never lets me down.

Not only do I love a good cup o’ Joe, but I also just LOVE the coffee shop environment. Perhaps it’s from those weeks I sat in Starbucks in Seattle, or perhaps its from my obsession with Friends in the 90’s, I cannot say for certain. But what I can say for certain is that it is one of the first things I look for when moving to a new town.

My relocation to Corpus Christi was no different. I googled it and was thrilled to come across a blog post here on CCMB that highlighted some great coffee shops! I now make it my mission to frequent a new coffee shop once every couple of weeks and I am loving working my way through the Coastal Bend via Coffee. And while Starbucks still gets a significant portion of my dollars, I  LOVE supporting our local business here in #CCTX, so, without further delay:

Here is an updated list of CCMB’s fave’s – let us know in the comments which delightful dives we are missing!

Bloom City Coffee {Portland} :: With a brand new location in Portland, I, for one, cannot wait to check them out. What an awesome story they have – read more on their website…”For all of us, there is no doubt that our passion to roast and brew the perfect cup of coffee comes from a deep well of commitment to be the best we can be!  And underneath it all, we have always known that God brought us together for the reason of setting our hearts to change the world, one relationship at a time.”

Coffee Waves :: Locally owned and passionate about the community. They first opened their doors in March of 2008 and now have three locations – including one on Alameda near the TAMU-CC Campus, a super comfy space in Flour Bluff and their newest location in Port Aransas. Coffee Waves serves coffee beverages, pastries, and hand crafted gelato in their incredibly inviting spaces.

Eleanor’s Coffee Bar + Market :: According to their website, it all started with this idea:When Jessica Gignac was in high school, she wanted to have her own space. She loved spending time at her grandmother Eleanor’s house, where Eleanor would immediately call you to sit and relax while she prepared delicious food and music accompanied by wildly warm company. This shop is a continuation of the spirit of Eleanor, and is in honor of her. Located at 4231 S Alameda St in Corpus.

Green Light Coffee :: A modern, craft coffee experience that brings the big city coffee shop to CC. Located Uptown and and now on the Southside! Yummy coffee, yummy drinks, and a great space for relaxing, working, and networking. Check them out!

Hester’s Cafe + Bakery + Coffee :: Jason and Hester Rodriguez, high school sweethearts, share a love for family, service and cooking. He’s a chef and she’s a baker, and they followed their dream and opened Hester’s Café at Six Points in September 2006. Five years later, they opened a second location inside the Art Museum of South Texas. And in 2014 the Lamar Park location opened. At Hester’s Café, they follows the basic principles of the family unit – service in the community, food for nourishment, and time for fellowship. Jason and Hester close shop on Sundays to allow employees time for rest, family and fellowship!

Island Joe’s Coffee and Gallery :: The new Joe’s, located on North Padre Island, is built from 10 shipping containers with a large outside patio that is pet friendly. They serve hot drinks as well as iced and frozen drinks. Cold brew coffee on tap, hand poured Chemex, and all of the syrups are homemade. It is a SUPER cool place for islanders and visitors to come enjoy a drink or pastry and relax in a family friendly environment. Bonus: A percentage of Island Joe’s sales goes to a feeding program they have helped to set up in the Dominican Republic. Located at 14829 South Padre Island Drive, on the Island.

Stingers :: With locations on Airline and another brand new location on the Southside in, you are never too far from a Stingers. They pride themselves on providing fair trade coffee and work with local dairy suppliers and bakeries to provide the freshest, highest quality offerings. Both locations also provide outdoor seating with power sources so you can always enjoy the CCTX Sunshine while working! I also just noticed that offer KETO coffee, so, um, Yes, please! Stingers is family owned & operated and supports the military every chance they can.
