5 Great Places to Eat Out With the Family

Eating out with family : Corpus Christi : Coastal Bend Moms

My grandmother always said,

“panzita llena, corazón contento,”

which means a full tummy equals a happy heart.

Although in a perfect world, we would love to be able to cook each meal, every single day, sometimes it’s a nice treat to eat out.  My kids are teenagers now, so finding a good restaurant isn’t always a chore; however, I’ve been there. Luckily, Corpus Christi has a selection of family-friendly restaurants with a great menu selection, inviting scenery, and activities to keep the kiddos entertained.

5 Great Family Restaurants in Corpus Christi

  • Brewster Street Icehouse – {Located at: 1724 N. Tancahua St} Although Brewster’s is known for its late-night live music shows, it is a great family-friendly place. Kids eat free every Wednesday from 5pm-close, but Sunday Funday is where it’s at!  The whole family can get in on the fun: face painting and balloon animals for the kiddos, and drink specials for the adults. The kids can enjoy $5 kid meals, while the older crowd can delve into a delicious $5 burger. The covered patio is a great place to enjoy a gorgeous, sunny day, but it is also in close proximity to the play area so parents can keep an eye on their kids. Everybody wins! Side Note: The new location on the South Side just opened and while they don’t have the late night live music, this family restaurant has an awesome outdoor space and killer playscape for the kids!

  • Dave and Busters – Located at 5488 S. Padre Island Dr. ( Inside La Palmera Mall ), D&B is a great place for a family outing! The restaurant offers a variety of mouthwatering cuisine styles to satisfy even the pickiest palate. Whether you order the Pepperoni Pretzel Pull-Apart appetizer or the Green Chile Chicken Tacos, you’re sure to get a delicious bite! Not a fan of carbs? Substitute any pasta with Zoodles! As a bonus, their large gaming area is a must for the entire family. You get more bang for your buck if you visit on Wednesday – games are half price!

  • House of Burgers and Wings{Located at: 1645 Airline Rd (Across from Lowe’s)} Think winning a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory, burger version. They’ve got a variety of gourmet burgers, such as the Frito Pie Burger, which is a hamburger topped with chili, Fritos, and cheddar cheese. I’ve had it, and it’s de-li-cious!  If you’re feeling brave, try the Lava Burger with ghost pepper sauce, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and grilled jalapeños. Their kid’s menu comes with the ever-popular chicken tenders, sliders, and mac and cheese. This family restaurant also offers a wide selection of playground equipment including multiple bounce houses, large playsets with slides and climbing ropes, and toddler-friendly plastic slides and playhouses.

  • Macaroni Grill – The authentic Italian atmosphere makes Macaroni Grill a great restaurant to take an imaginary trip to Italy with the family! A full menu of kid-friendly Italian favorites such as pizza, spaghetti, and chicken alfredo is sure to make any kiddo happy. Aside from the tasty cucina, kiddos get to unleash their inner artist on the butcher paper tablecloths, with crayons provided by the restaurant. Share their artwork on Instagram with #macgrilldoodles! You can visit Macaroni Grill at 5133 S Padre Island Dr. (In front of Barnes and Noble)!

  • Fuddruckers – A delicious burger bar made for kids of all ages! The menu gives you free rein to create your own burger or let the staff create one for you! With a variety of patty sizes and toppings, there’s a burger for everyone at Fuddruckers, located at 1949 S. Padre Island Dr. (in front of Starplex Cinema). The kids also get the chance to build their own burgers, in kid-friendly sizes, of course! Your little ones get to play chef, and they’re usually excited to add the toppings, making veggie eating a breeze! If they don’t want burgers, the kid’s menu still has the classics they can choose from. Can we also talk about their amazing retro style milkshakes? What a great reward for your kiddos after eating a delicious burger packed with veggies!
