4 Great Coffee Shops for Moms in Corpus Christi

How many times have you been desperate for that one cup of coffee and the company of a fellow mom who just gets it?

You know the one.

The mom that totally understands the mental breakdowns that involve you possibly hiding in the pantry eating your breakfast while it’s still hot with chubby toddler fingers curling around the bottom trying to get to you. The mom that totally understands wanting to have just five minutes of silence and to not be climbed on and touched and doesn’t judge you for it. Chances are that you’re not a bad mom, you’re just tired because……life.

I know because I have been there and trust me, darling, I get it.

Coffee : Corpus Christi Moms Blog

I have been in that EXACT season of life that makes you get all the warm and fuzzies but simultaneously makes you want to tear your hair out. To help combat the ugly side of being freshly postpartum (or even if you are several years in) I have a list of my top four favorite coffee shops for moms in Corpus Christi.

4 Great Coffee Shops in Corpus Christi

(for moms!)

  1. Green Light Coffee on the Southside. They have a very spacious venue with chairs, couches, and wooden benches that my child loves to climb up and down. They have bomb food, coffee, pastries, and my favorite thing, CHOCOLATE COVERED ESPRESSO BEANS! It is very roomy and they also have chairs and tables on the outside so if your little is being too cray-cray. I totally recommend their turkey, apple, and gouda toast! They also make a mean Chai Tea Latte. Another cool thing about this place is that it is stationed right across the street from PLAY! PLAY is a great little spot to let your kiddos get all of their excitement and energy out!
  2. Barnes and Noble. I know I know, a book store? Take my kids? Usually, that would be a hard no for me. HOWEVER, they have a cute kids section and do storytime! While the kids are doing that you can pop right over to the Starbucks/Cafe and get a snack and coffee and sit and read in peace while your kiddo is being read to. Their kid’s section has some cute little tables, and stools to read at as well! {Pro Tip: When you come in, go around the LEFT side of the Cafe to get to the Kiddo Section in the rear of the store. The right side is full of toys and games which is awesome if you’re want to drop some dollars, but not so awesome if you’re trying to skip the toy line. Veer left and you can avoid the meltdowns. You’re welcome.}
  3. Coffee Waves on South Alameda. This place is pretty fantastic. They have amazing coffee (my favorite is the Grass Hopper) and they have……..wait for it……… A GELATO bar! They also have fantastic couches and an outdoor area where the kids can run amuck!
  4. (And my number one go-to) Hester’s Cafe located at 1714 South Alameda Street. First of all, the food is AHHHMAZING. I highly recommend the Monti Christi (it’s to die for) and the Lemon-Blueberry Cheesecake (also to die for). The portions are huge so you should definitely bring a friend to share and have the perfect brunch date. One of the best parts of this location is the boutique-style shop that it is attached to, Bleu Frog Mercantile. Not only is it filled with lots of cool nick-nacks, but it has an awesome kids corner where they allow children to play with the toys that they sell (as long as they are returned to their rightful place afterwards). They have mats, and a table with puzzles, and balls, and other toys as well to keep your child entertained while you enjoy a hot cup of coffee (that hasn’t been microwaved more than once). This location is honestly a win-win for all parties involved.

So! If you are interested in grabbing a good cup of joe and taking your Wile. E. Coyote kiddo along, then these are the places that I would recommend. Take it from someone who is coffee obsessed and usually under-dressed with a toddler and new babe in tow!
