MICROBLOG: What You Don’t See

Microblog What you don't see

What you don’t see when I upload the highlight reel of our trip to grandma’s house is how many times I had to stop and ask my children to PLEASE listen.

What you don’t see when you look at the pictures of my kids’ smiling faces is the 5 minutes I had to stand there asking them to PLEASE smile, because they just got in trouble for not listening to directions.

What you don’t see when you see a sweet picture of my daughter smiling and posing like a professional model is that seconds before she was throwing a fit about not getting her way.

What you don’t see when we gather for a family picture in front of some sightseeing destination with giant smiles is how exhausted I am by the end of the day from managing my kids who have been thrown out of their routine, and are not sleeping well away from their rooms and beds. Often feeling like we are just going from one tantrum to the next wondering if anyone is even having fun.

What you don’t see when you look at my highlight reel are the tears, and sugary outbursts, and crashes.

Please know when you are visiting ANY social media page you are getting their best, you are getting their highlights. The best moments, the bursts of fun, the brief moments when everyone is on their best behavior.

So if you are like me and DREAD your kid’s behavior when going out of town or to visit family, and wonder how everyone else has such well-behaved kids. Know you are not alone and that there so much more behind those gorgeous family photos!

She is happiest when she is crafting, writing, or doing anything artistic. She loves music, especially ANYTHING from the 90's, and is often seen dancing around the kitchen to Nsync while cooking dinner. She is married to Derik and has two kids, Connor and Keeley (pronounced Key-Lee). Jennifer still feels like a novice when it comes to parenting and enjoys letting other moms know they are not doing life alone. She also admits she watches copious amounts of Netflix, but balances that out by reading to and with her kiddos as much as possible each day.
